Musar sobre Pirkei Avot 5:14
אַרְבַּע מִדּוֹת בְּהוֹלְכֵי לְבֵית הַמִּדְרָשׁ. הוֹלֵךְ וְאֵינוֹ עוֹשֶׂה, שְׂכַר הֲלִיכָה בְיָדוֹ. עוֹשֶׂה וְאֵינוֹ הוֹלֵךְ, שְׂכַר מַעֲשֶׂה בְיָדוֹ. הוֹלֵךְ וְעוֹשֶׂה, חָסִיד. לֹא הוֹלֵךְ וְלֹא עוֹשֶׂה, רָשָׁע:
Hay cuatro medios para ir a la casa de estudio: ir pero no hacer [es decir, ir a la casa de estudio para escuchar, pero no revisar su aprendizaje y no comprender] —la recompensa de ir está en su mano; haciendo [es decir, aprendiendo y revisando en su estudio en casa], pero no yendo—la recompensa de hacer está en su mano; yendo y haciendo—un chasid no yendo y no haciendo— uno malvado

1) First of all, one is rewarded for going to the synagogue in itself, as we find in Avoth 5:14: "There are four characteristics of those who go to the synagogue: If he goes and does not do [i.e., pray, (because of some accident)], he has the reward of going." And the reward is according to the number of steps. The more steps, the more reward (see Sotah 22a).
